How does this laptop look spec wise?

I am buying a laptop and I need it for mainly gaming. I will be playing like Diablo 3, Guild Wars 2, APB, Counter strike and some others. Most of those games don't need an amazing computer but still $1000+. So why not spend more for a great one, so how are the specs of it?

The laptop is a Sager NP8150 and I customized it to:

-15.6” FHD 16:9 LED Backlit Wide screen (1920x1080) Super Clear Glare Type Screen

-2nd Generation Intel® Core™ i7-2760QM, 2.4-3.5GHz, (32nm, 6MB L3 cache)

-ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD6990 2048MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11

-8GB - DDR3 1333MHz Dual Channel Memory (2 SODIMMS)

-640GB 5400RPM 8MB Cache Buffer (Serial-ATA II 3GB/s)

-Built in 2.0 Megapixel Camera

-Sound Blaster Compatible 3D Audio

-Smart Li-ion Battery (8-Cell)

-Integrated Fingerprint Reader

-Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit Installed (64&32-Bit CD Included) w/ Drivers & Utilities CD's + Microsoft Office Starter 2010

All for $1536.48, free shipping, $100 since its over $1500, (normally like $1700), and of course $100 off the ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD6990 2048MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11.

So thats what I picked out for my computer, what do you guys think of it?|||Sounds like its gonna be quite powerful, if you have the money for this then do it:)|||http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CalhTPG8u…|||Lot of money - but looks like a good gaming laptop. Hope you enjoy!|||yeah its good, but with all that u might aswell have a big HDD, so like 1TB or with my PC 6TB in series,|||Email me lilchris173@yahoo.com and I can help you further.

This computer is spec heavy but actually wouldn't be great for the money... The hard drive for example is SLOW. See none of these people even noticed. 5400 RPM's is only good for word documents lol. A normal desktop has a 7200 RPM drive, and gaming laptops have 7200 rpm drives in them and often have SSD drives. SSD drives are more expensive, but lets face it you're over spending anyways. I can likely find you something great for 1000. JBL speakers... great graphics, and a fast hard drive + a SSD drive.

VIDEO CARDS GREEN OR RED????HELP PLSSS :)?

gtx 590 or hd6990???

anyways im only using a single monitor not the eyefinity setup :)|||If you are only using one monitor, I really don't see why you would need either, but since you asked, I would go with the HD 6990. Great cards, I have two in my chassis, but only because I'm using big monitors for eyefinity.

Good motherboard for a PC with this hardware for under $300?

Intel Core i7 2600k

Radeon HD6990

16gb DDR3 Ram (Dual Channel) @ 1333MH/z|||Strange setup you've got there, why don't you just get a 2500k and 2 6950s, or 2 6970s? 2 6950s will match or beat the 6990, but will run MUCH quieter and cost alot less. 2 6970s will destroy the 6990, and cost a similar amount of money.

Also, since this seems to be a gaming build, why get a 2600k now? The i5 2500k offers 99% the performance of the 2600k, but in reality, no game will come close to maxing out either processor. Just save the money now, get a 2500k, and use that money upgrade to an Ivy Bridge processor when they come out in April.

But as for a motherboard? This is my personal fave right now. PCIE 3.0 (as opposed to 2.0) means maximum future compatibility with the Radeon 7000 series, GTX 600 series, and beyond

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.as…

This one comes with an SSD built in!

As you seem to be the overkill kind of person, this one is the overkill kind of motherboard.

Is it hard to instal a video card?

I am going to buy a Nividia GTX590 or Radeon HD6990 video card. How do I intal it, and is it hard?|||google "how to install a videocard" and you'll see.|||Very simple to install.

(First off, make sure your Motherboard, and Power Supply can support it, these are some good cards, you'll need a good Motherboard to support it. I'm not sure about the NVIDIA Card, but the Radeon requires a minimum 750W Power Supply. Make sure you have one, or you'll have some big problems in the near future.)

When you open your computer case, there will be a PCI Slot on the Motherboard. It should look like this - http://www.karbosguide.com/books/pcarchi…

In most cases, the Graphics Card uses the longest one.

You will then connect the cables that came with the Graphics Card to the Power Supply (The connections are easy to match up.)

The hardest part is going into the BIOS Settings and setting the new Card, as the primary one. Or your computer will continue to use the card on the Motherboard by default. Unless there was already a physical card you had to remove.

I hope I helped!

PS - If your Motherboard is not compatible, then you will either need to go with a lower-end card, or build a whole new computer. The Motherboard and CPU are the most expensive parts of a computer, if you have to change the Motherboard, you have to change the CPU in most cases.|||Not at all it's very easy .just put ur card in pcie x16 slot.

connect ur dvi or hdmi cable to graphic card.

Connect the 6pin or 8pin power supply frm psu to ur graphic card nd that's it.|||there are plenty of vids on youtube if you are a visual learner|||its easy plug it in then install its drivers

Nvidia GTX590 or HD6990?

"Dont worry about the price which is a better card"|||Nvidia all the way!|||Well most reviews will say that the HD6990 is better,

But then again i will only chose the GTX 590 as it is showing a better Dx11 support.

So in my opinion, the GTX 590 should handle newer and upcoming games better|||Both cards are very similar.

but if you are up for more that 3 displays the go for HD6990 because it is built for it.

But if your up for 3 displays and the quality of the display then go for GTX 590.|||The ati hd 6990 with dual gpu's or the nvidia dual gpu gtx590 looking at some of the benchmarks in running some modern games and blogs sites and pc mag reviews the nvidia gtx 590 out performs the ati hd 6990 by a small margin in some benchmark tests.|||Depends on what you're playing. If its something like WoW, just get what's cheaper, and just about anything labeled "gaming" will do the trick for it.

Found this:

make sure to read the whole thing before making a decision, however, because one or the other may be better for your situation.

Is the 4GB GDDR5 AMD® Radeon™ HD6990 graphics card good?

Yes. It sure is.

Is pcie 2.1 x16 graphic will slow if in pcie 2.0 x16 slot?

ati radeon hd6990 has a pci-e 2.1 x16.So, will the ati radeon hd6990 run slow in pcie 2.0 x16 slot ?|||No...the 2.0 and 2.1 have the same 5GT/s speeds. The 2.1 has some overhead telemetry that will ready the socket to Take 3.0 when it comes out.|||No, PCIe 2.0 x16 and PCIe 2.1 x16 is the same, both have the same speed.|||No

ATI/AMD likes to add pointless .1 support even though it does nothing for anything|||Yes, bit you will never notice the difference.

What Graphics Card Should go for?

hey guys wanted to know Should I go for a 4GB GDDR5 AMD® Radeon™ HD6990 graphics card or a Dual 2GB AMD Radeon™ HD 6950 CrossfireX™ which one would be best for gaming like playing BF3 on ULTRA.|||Radeon™ HD 6990 is bit more than 2x(Radeon™ HD 6950) and almost equal to 2x(Radeon™ HD 6970)

So Radeon™ HD 6990 will perform better in most cases.. when you use Crossfire or SLI.. You also need its profile for the game. Using single most powerful card will save you from SLI or Crossfire hassles.

You can also consider going for GTX 590, because MSI and Gigabyte has really good makes for that one.. but at the end both cards are at cutting edge.

These profiles do exists for biggest game releases like BF3, Skyrim and all, but will leave you frustrated when you play a bit old or unsupported games from small publishers.|||4GB GDDR5 AMD® Radeon™ HD6990 graphics card...

its far more better than the other 2 options|||Try Nvidia|||6990.

Will the computer I have built run Battlfield 3 on max settings and fast?

Here are the specs...

CPU - Intel Core i7-2600

RAM - 8GB KINGSTON HYPER-X 2133

Video Card - 4GB AMD RADEON HD6990

OS - Windows 7 64 bit

Hard Drive - 2TB WD CAVIAR BLACK|||Yeah of course, you have the second best graphics card in the world, and one of the best processors, what did you expect? But please note that ATI drivers are terrible. And a lot ATI cards, including 6990 have serious compatibility issues with the newer games like Crysis 2.|||Why do you ask stupid questions you know the answer to. You have one of the best graphics cards with the one of the top processors.|||That's a stupid question the processer out on the market and the second best gpu ya its gonna run it on max fast.

Which graphics card is better for gaming?

The nvidia gtx580 sli

Or

The amd radeon hd6990 crossfire?|||hi adam, dig this man this is a fact okay you picked out two choices now let's look at your chioces for gaming the Nvidia geforce 580gtx is a good card if you are not a gamer so you need a card that is for gamers and the amd radeon hd 6990 too much power and this will make your computer freeze because it is too hot when gaming too long so what i recommend a Nvidia geforce 9800gtx. the reason why is that the nvidia geforce 9800gtx is a gaming video card the reason is that cuts back on vibration and especially the heat. but may i be honest with you? what you really want is killer graphics and to protect your computer for the heat factor so what i recommend iif you have an extra sli slot than a radeon 4870 and below with the Nvidia geforce 9800gtx but if you do not have that sli slot than what you should lean toward is just the Nvidia geforce 9800gtx. these are the best for any computer good luck hope i was helpful to you|||nVIDIA gtx580sli|||I will go with nVIDIA gtx580sli|||If you are talking about GTX580 SLI and 6990 CF, (and not 6970 CF) I would take 6990 CF as it's a Quad CF (6970 * 4). But make sure you have a beefy PSU to handle the load and an OCed SB. I also hope that you are going to play at 2560*1600.

When is the hd6990 coming out?

This product will be officially released on October 22, which is next Friday.

Will the AMD 1090T bottleneck a single HD6990 in gaming too much, and will a 750watt supply be sufficient?

Hello, and thanks for taking the time for this question. I am about to buy a new desktop featuring the AMD 1090T [6 x 3.2 ghz], a Sapphire HD6990 and 8GB on ram. It also comes with a normal 1GB SATA3 harddrive. Reading the reviews of the CPU though, I got a little worried that I won't be able to play the latest games on max graphics, which is what I aim for on my new desktop. Also, it said to come with a 750watt powersupply, but will this always be sufficient?|||The 1090T is a good cpu. It competes with similarly priced intel offerings (don't think it will match up against an intel 6-core proc...because there it is outclassed) It will not create a bottleneck for the video card. If you were planning on doing a lot of video encoding/editing, then it would create an issue. In that case, a higher-end intel cpu would be the way to go. For gaming, though, the 1090T will do the trick.

Even though the 6990 can be a power hog at times, a good 750w psu will be enough to handle the load. You wouldn't want to add a second gpu to that, but one wil run just fine.|||if that's all the parts plus a high end mobo its gonna work. and no the 1090T won't bottle neck your 6990

Asus HD6990 not playing 3D?

Hello.

I got 2 Asus HD 6990 but I can't play anything on 3D, games neither movies.

I tried the latest 11.8 - 11.9 CCC version,I udpated the MoBo drivers, disabled the crossfire, updated BIOS, formated the hole system, I tried the IZ3D and DDD but neither worked for gaming plus the CyberLink Power DVD 10 doesn't work.

Specs:

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 1500W

MoBo: Asus Crosshair Formula IV

CPU: AMD Phenom II x6 1100T 3.3GHz

VGA: Asus Radeon HD6990 x2

RAM: Kingston HyperX 4GBx2 SDRAM (total 8GB)

Any ideas why the AMD HD3D doesn't work????? Do I have to activated manualy or do something else?|||you have 2x HD6990? I believe in Crossfire mode that 3D does not function, unplug or disable Crossfire and you will find that the 3D will work, which is a bit of a bummer when wanting to play your games in 3D as well.|||to play 3d you need a monitor compatible with 3d and 3d glasses:)

p.s. nice computer:)

Witch hd6990 should I buy?

thought about buying a hd6990 graphics card for my new computer, and there are several different versions of the card there is an asus one gigabyte a Sapphire a xfx and there is certainly more out there

so what is the difference between them?

and witch one should i buy?|||You may follow this sequence.

1) Gigabyte ($739.99)

2) Asus

3) Shapphire

4) XFX ($734.99)

5) HIS ($722.99)

6) Powecolor

Though the main factor you should consider is which manufacturer have the nearest service station for your graphic card. & other factor to be considered is cost of graphic card.

Can I run a hd6990 on my 600 watt power supply?

I was just wondering if a hd 6990 would run on my system!

AMD phenom II 965 x4 3.4

Ecs 785gm-m

600 watt power supply

4gb crucial ballistix

2x 640gb caviar green hdd's in raid 0|||Never ever possible. Minimum PSU required for your desktop is 800 Watt. You cannot run the HD 6990. Its a very power hungry card. The card itself consumes 250 watts idle and above 400 watt on load. Phenom II X4 965 consumes 130 watts. Rest of 70 watts is impossible to run 2 HDDs.

http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/g…

For Radeon HD 5770, minimum given in the website is 400. One can run it on a 400Watt if he has like a Core i3, 1HDD, 1Opt Drive. For your desktop you need a 500watt to run it.

So you cannot run HD 6990 on 600watt even if its high marked(Even Corsair)|||Unfortunately, no. The HD 6990 requires a 750 watt power supply

Does anyone know what performance I can expect from the AMD HD6990?

I just wanted to know if it would be worth waiting for and if it is worth its price.|||The exact specs haven't been released yet, but there is some info you can use.

The 5970 was a single board with two 5870 GPUs connected together. The clock rate of these two GPUs was dropped to 5850 levels to keep power consumption below 300 watts.

The 6990 is expected to be along the same lines, two 6970 GPUs on one card. The 6970 has a max of 250 watts and the 6950 has 200 watts, so it is expected that clock rated will be dropped as in the 5000 series to keep consumption below 300 watts. This is a grey area though, because the 6900 series cards have typical and max power consumption numbers, so no one is sure where the 6990 will be. A good guess is that two 6950 cards in crossfire will be similar in performance.

On a side note, crossfire scaling seems to be better on the 6000 series than it was on the 5000, so this will probably help the 6990.|||6990 hasn't been released yet. and the info for the 6970 and 6950 were very hyped. The 6990 is the dual gpu equivalent to nvidia's gtx 580. You can expect similar or better performance from the 6990 as long as they get the drivers right.|||VS. what? Im guessing that is a graphics card?

We need more information about the system.

Processor? Memory? Hard drive size and speed/ interface?

Windows Version/ MAC OSX? Linux?

Also work load? Is it for gaming or office, huge difference in load on the computer.

Different graphics cards compatable?

Ok. So I'm currently gathering up knowledge for my pc build (cheeper). So what I want to know is that if I get a ATI HD6990 for the "graphics" side of things and a nVIDIA GTX560 for the "physx" an "cuda" technologies.... WILL IT WORK??

I'm hopping that it will because ive currently decided to wait for the new AMD FX 8 core CPU an apparrently there is technologies on that to help the HD6990...

So basically all that ramble come down to will they both work in the same system so I can have the technologies of both??

Thanks in advance.|||Nope. Nvidia's drivers lock out Physx if an ATI video card is detected in the same system. There were work arounds for it a while back, but I don't think they still work.

Is this Desktop PC configuration good enough to run these games?

Configuration :

Intel Core i5-2400 @ 3.4 GHz

Intel H61 Chipset

4 GB DDR3 1333 MHz RAM

1 TB HDD

Graphic card ATI Radeon HD6990

will it run GTA IV smoothly? and the new games such as mafia II and stranglehold.... thanks in advance|||do you really mean an HD6990 or is this a typo?

hey, come down 2 steps. you don't need an HD6990, save your money and get an HD6950 or a GTX 560 Ti for a third of the price or at most a GTX 570. it will run GTA IV as smoothly as the HD6990. the recommended system requirements for the graphics card is either a GeForce 8600GT or a Radeon HD3870. the HD6950 and GTX560 Ti are way ahead of these requirements.

btw, GTA IV is rather dependent on a fast multicore cpu, so you're fine with the i5-2400.|||I think so. Good processor speed. I also have a 3.4 GHz processor. And ATI is definitely good enough for almost any video game.

Would two 2GB AMD RADEON HD 6970's be better than one 4GB AMD RADEON HD6990?

Due to the supposed compatability issues of the 6990 with certain games I am considering two 6970's in it's stead, am I right in this decision?|||Yes, would a 1.5ghz dual core be better than a 3.0ghz single core?|||lol, wtf?? We're not talking about processor crap xD... Whatever.

Yes, it would. Same performance, less power consumption and MUCH LESS noise. The 6990 sounds like a thermobaric tank in full throttle or something.

But if you have the money to buy a 6990, why not go with Nvidia, a GTX 590?? GTX 590 has 3 gigs of VRAM, and yet is faster than the 4 gigs of 6990.|||The 6990 is in short supply. A lot of this has to do with bad yeilds. Appearenty, the GPU has to be a little better than the standard one used in a 6970. On top of that non-gamers, the Bitcoin people are competing for this card.

If you clock a 6990 past 830mhz then you void the warranty. It has a switch that will take the core clock to 880mhz. Flipping the switch is a no-no and you're screwed if the card breaks.

As you know, the 6970 is clocked to 880mhz.
